This hands-on course enables learners to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based applications using Microsoft Azure’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings. Through progressive modules, learners will identify core Azure services, configure Azure App Services, and implement secure identity management using Azure Active Directory. The course further explores how to integrate, test, and monitor automated background jobs with Azure WebJobs and connect applications to scalable storage systems including Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, and Table Storage. Learners will actively apply connection strings, build real-world workflows for managing user data and media, and evaluate their deployments through portal logs and debugging tools. By the end of the course, participants will be able to construct end-to-end Azure application solutions, analyze WebJob outputs, and troubleshoot cloud-based deployments confidently using industry-standard practices.

Syllabus

  • Building and Deploying Azure Web Applications
    • This module introduces learners to the foundational process of developing and deploying web applications on the Azure platform using Azure App Services. It begins with an overview of Azure PaaS offerings and the architectural mapping of on-premises applications to cloud-based components. Through hands-on demonstrations, learners will explore multiple deployment methods, including FTP-based publishing, and learn how to validate application functionality in both local and cloud environments. The module emphasizes practical experience using Azure tools and services to streamline the web application deployment lifecycle.
  • Identity, Background Services, and WebJobs
    • This module explores how Azure Active Directory (AD) can be leveraged for secure identity and access management in cloud applications, followed by hands-on implementation and deployment of Azure WebJobs for automating backend tasks. Learners will gain practical skills in configuring AD users and apps, building WebJobs to run background processes like file handling or messaging, and integrating these services into real-world Azure environments. The module also includes deploying and verifying WebJobs on the cloud using storage services and the Azure portal.
  • Data Integration with Azure Services
    • This module guides learners through integrating data services within Azure by building and connecting application components to Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Table Storage. Learners will configure databases to store image metadata, interact with Blob Storage for handling file uploads, and implement structured data storage using Table services. Through practical scenarios, they will also validate WebJob outputs, apply connection strings, and test data persistence in the cloud.
