  • Module 1: Recognizing and Understanding Bias
    • Success in academic and professional settings depends on strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to address bias. In this module, you will learn the importance of identifying and understanding bias. You will also learn how to avoid bias in order to maintain logic, an important aspect of Aristotle’s Triangle of Persuasion. You will study new words, read articles, watch videos, and practice your new skills.
  • Module 2: Making Logical Inferences
    • Making accurate inferences is essential for problem-solving and decision-making. This critical skill allows us to carefully analyze and appropriately respond to information and situations in both academic and professional settings. You will study new words, read articles, watch videos, and practice your new skills.
  • Module 3: Hedging in Academic and Professional Communication
    • Success in academic and professional settings depends on being able to understand and use hedging effectively. In this module, you will learn how to identify hedging in both spoken and written contexts and describe how it helps authors and speakers sound more credible. You will also strengthen your communication by practicing hedging in your own persuasive arguments. You will study new words, read articles, watch videos, and practice your new skills through a summary-response task.
  • Module 4: Review of Aristotle's Triangle
    • Throughout this course, you have been studying the three components of Aristotle's Triangle of Persuasion: logic, credibility, and emotion . In this module, you will review these components and how they work together. You will also strengthen your communication skills in your own persuasive argument. You will study new words, read articles, watch videos, and apply your skills in persuasion.
  • Module 5: Final Reflection and Assessment
    • Congratulations on successfully completing Learn English Now: Academic and Professional Persuasion, Courses 1-3. We hope you can confidently apply the three components of Aristotle's Triangle of Persuasion to your academic and professional communication. You will complete a self-reflection and a comprehensive assessment.
