This course explores the science and practice of managing everyday stress to build balance, resilience, and well-being. Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, and evidence-based interventions, learners will understand how stress arises and learn practical strategies for self-regulation, cognitive reframing, lifestyle balance, and emotional resilience. Through experiential tasks, reflection, and live sessions, participants will develop a personalized Resilience plan for lifelong growth.

Syllabus

  • Welcome to Life Stress Management
    • This course explores the science and practice of managing everyday stress to build balance, resilience, and well-being. Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, and evidence-based interventions, learners will understand how stress arises and learn practical strategies for self-regulation, cognitive reframing, lifestyle balance, and emotional resilience. Through experiential tasks, reflection, and live sessions, participants will develop a personalized Resilience plan for lifelong growth.
  • The Nature of Stress – Understanding the Inner Game
    • Learners will explore what stress is, how it operates, and why it affects people differently. They will understand major stress theories and models, distinguish between eustress and distress, and identify their own stress triggers and patterns. This module lays the foundation for awareness and self-reflection in managing stress effectively.
  • The Biology of Stress
    • Learners will examine the physiological systems involved in the stress response, including the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. They will understand how chronic stress impacts health and functioning. The module connects mind–body science to practical insights for maintaining physical and emotional balance.
  • Cognitive and Personality Aspects of Stress
    • In this module, we will explore how thoughts, beliefs, and personality traits shape stress perception and coping. They will learn to identify thinking traps, reframe unhelpful thoughts, and cultivate flexible, balanced mindsets. This module emphasizes cognitive awareness as a key to emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Sociocultural and Environmental Aspects of Stress
    • In this module learners will understand how work, relationships, environment, and digital overload contribute to stress. They will explore the impact of social support, cultural expectations, and technology on well-being. Practical strategies for creating healthy environments and digital balance will be introduced.
  • Health and Lifestyle Factors in Stress Management
    • In this module learners will examine how nutrition, sleep, exercise, and time management influence stress resilience. They will evaluate their own habits and design simple, sustainable routines to promote recovery and vitality. The module highlights lifestyle as a foundation for mental health and well-being.
  • Mind- Body Integration
    • In this module learners will discover how mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and relaxation techniques calm the body and mind. They will explore scientific evidence behind mind–body practices and experiment with short guided exercises to restore balance. This module emphasizes embodied awareness and self-regulation.
  • Humor, Play, and Movement
    • In this module learners will experience how humor, joy, and movement act as powerful antidotes to stress. They will understand the physiological benefits of laughter and positive emotion and design playful, creative routines for everyday relaxation. The focus is on rediscovering lightness and vitality.
  • Expressive and Creative Therapies
    • Learners will explore expressive writing, art, music, and other creative outlets as tools for emotional release and reflection. They will understand how creativity fosters self-awareness and stress relief. This module encourages personal expression and meaning-making through artful engagement.
  • Building Healthy Thinking Patterns
    • Learners will learn to recognize unhelpful thinking habits and reframe them into balanced, constructive perspectives. They will apply techniques from cognitive restructuring, gratitude, and acceptance to enhance emotional resilience and optimism. The focus is on cultivating a calm and flexible mind.
  • Communication and Assertive Skills
    • Learners will understand how communication patterns influence stress and relationships. They will practice assertive communication, active listening, and boundary-setting to manage conflict effectively. This module builds confidence in expressing needs clearly and respectfully.
  • Behavioral Change and Resilience
    • Learners will translate awareness into action by applying habit-formation and behavior-change strategies. They will design and implement a personal well-being goal and learn to sustain motivation through resilience and self-compassion. This module bridges insight with consistent practice.
  • Integration and the Resilience Plan
    • Learners will synthesize insights from all modules to create a personalized Resilience plan. They will reflect on their growth, identify sustaining practices, and commit to lifelong stress management and well-being.
