Beaujolais, Jura & Savoie (Live Online)

Overview

Discover the multi-faceted nature of Beaujolais as expressed through its different soil types and vinification techniques.

Learn how carbonic maceration and traditional fermentation changes the flavors in the glass. Find out how the granitic soils of the Crus Beaujolais create wines of different character and age-ability from the rest of Beaujolais. Beaujolais Nouveau may be a light-hearted quaff, but the subject is far from simple.

This class covers an in-depth history, geography, climate and the wines of Beaujolais, the gateway to the south. From there, we head East to Jura and Savoie along the Swiss border south of Lake Geneva. The wines have rarely been exported, but have become trendy in top wine bars and restaurants, and are worth seeking out.
