Building a game is one of the most rewarding ways to learn programming, but going from a blank Unity project to a polished, playable build requires more than just following tutorials. This course takes you through the complete development lifecycle of a 2D platformer, from environment setup to a standalone executable.
You will start by configuring a professional IDE for Unity development, then dive into core C# scripting. Variables, control flow, collections, and Unity lifecycle methods form the foundational logic that drives everything in your game. From there, you will implement a full player movement system with physics-based running, jumping, and grounded detection, along with collision and trigger systems that handle platforms, hazards, and collectibles.
When things break, you will know how to find out why. The course teaches a systematic debugging workflow where you attach to the Unity runtime, step through gameplay in real time, and diagnose null reference exceptions, physics inconsistencies, and logic errors methodically rather than guessing.
Before shipping, you will configure static analysis tooling to catch performance issues, then build and playtest a standalone executable to verify your game runs correctly outside the editor.
