The Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) is one of the most recognised cloud credentials in the industry. This Specialization gives you a structured, hands-on path to earn it — covering every exam domain through practical Azure administration work, not just theory.
Across four courses, you'll build real Azure skills in sequence. In the cloud, identity is the new security perimeter — and this course teaches you to control it. You'll learn the Azure administrator tasks that directly determine who can access what, and how resources are organized, governed, and deployed. The first module covers Microsoft Entra ID from the ground up: core concepts, edition differences compared to Active Directory Domain Services, user and group management, bulk operations, self-service password reset, device identities, and multi-tenant environment support. The governance module introduces the controls that keep Azure environments organized and compliant. You'll design resource hierarchies using subscriptions and management groups, apply tags and resource locks, manage costs, and build Azure Policy definitions and initiatives. RBAC and Microsoft Entra roles are covered in depth, with clear guidance on when to use each to enforce least-privilege access. The final module shifts from the portal to code. You'll compare Azure administration tools, understand how Azure Resource Manager structures deployments, and use ARM templates and Azure Bicep to write repeatable, automated infrastructure definitions that deploy identically every time. Building an Azure environment is only half the job. Keeping it protected, observable, and resilient is what separates a junior admin from a trusted operator. This course covers the Day 2 skills that make that difference — and closes with the exam preparation you need to earn your AZ-104 certification. The data protection module covers Azure Backup in full: protecting files, folders, and virtual machines, managing backup jobs through Backup Center, comparing recovery options, and enabling soft delete to guard against accidental or malicious deletion. Cloud connectivity is only an asset if it's properly managed. This course teaches you to design, secure, and control Azure network infrastructure — from your first virtual network to enterprise-grade traffic distribution. You'll start by building the networking foundation: creating and configuring Azure Virtual Networks (VNETs), assigning private and public IP addresses, and applying Network Security Groups and Application Security Groups to control traffic flow. Azure DNS and Private DNS Zones round out the foundation, supporting name resolution for all Azure workloads. The intersite connectivity module covers the hybrid and private connections that link Azure to the wider enterprise. You'll configure VNET Peering, set up VPN Gateways for site-to-site and point-to-site connections, design user-defined routes, and secure access to platform services using Service Endpoints and Private Endpoints. The final module focuses on traffic distribution and visibility. You'll deploy Azure Load Balancer for layer-4 traffic distribution, configure load balancer rules and session persistence, and set up Azure Application Gateway for URL-based routing and application-layer decisions. Every cloud application needs reliable storage and scalable compute. This course covers both — giving you the skills to manage Azure's core data and workload services from a single, structured learning path. The storage module starts with the fundamentals: creating and configuring storage accounts, choosing the right redundancy option (LRS, GRS, ZRS) for your workload's availability needs, and managing storage tiers and lifecycle policies to control costs. You'll secure storage using encryption (SSE and ADE), access keys, Shared Access Signatures, and Microsoft Entra ID authentication. In the virtual machine module, you'll plan and deploy Azure VMs with appropriate sizing and storage choices, connect to and manage them securely after deployment, and configure high availability using availability options. You'll also deploy VM Scale Sets that automatically grow and shrink based on demand. The PaaS module introduces the application hosting options that reduce operational overhead. You'll configure App Service plans, deploy and secure web apps, set up custom domains, manage CI/CD workflows with deployment slots, and back up App Service workloads. The module closes with Azure Container Instances, Container Groups, and Azure Container Apps — giving you a clear view of when and how to use each containerized compute option.
