This IEEE conference talk presents a study on mentor-guided learning in immersive virtual environments, examining how different types of feedback affect skill acquisition. Explore research findings that compare visual and haptic-augmented feedback from experts in virtual training scenarios. The 10-minute presentation reveals that both visual and combined visual-haptic feedback groups demonstrated significant performance improvements compared to the control group receiving no feedback. While adding haptic elements to visual feedback didn't further enhance learning outcomes, it did reduce perceived workload and increase feelings of interdependence with the expert mentor. Learn about the implications for designing effective virtual training environments that optimize skill acquisition for tool manipulation tasks. Part of the "Exploring Perception, Haptics, and Learning in XR" session at IEEE VR 2025, this research was conducted by a team from Université d'Evry Paris-Saclay.
