The course teaches about the different classification schemes we have namely Library of Congresss classification scheme which is majorly used in institutions of higher learning e.g Universities.

The classification scheme uses letters to classsify books from letter A-Z with some letters not given their subjects. It also uses the cutter number.

It is also accepted globally as is used in every part of the globe in classifying library materials.

The second one is Deway Decimal classification scheme which is also accepted globally and was created to enable libraries to classify information materials.

The third one is Universal Decimal classification, Just like DDC universal also uses numbers but has a distinction of not using decimals in classifying.

It is commonly used in special libraries, example agricultural libraries, military libraries just but to mention some.
