I recently completed the Library Science course by CEC on YouTube, and it’s a total hidden gem. I was worried the technical side of cataloging and classification—like the Dewey Decimal System—would be dry, but the instructors break it down in a way that actually makes sense.
The production quality is solid for educational content, and the lessons on digital archiving feel especially relevant today. It’s perfect if you’re a student or just someone obsessed with how information is organized. It’s rare to find such high-level academic content for free. Definitely worth the watch!

This course is good for persons aspiring to be library professionals or gearing up to work on this field either as a tutor or a librarian.

The course teaches about the different classification schemes we have namely Library of Congresss classification scheme which is majorly used in institutions of higher learning e.g Universities.

The classification scheme uses letters to classsify books from letter A-Z with some letters not given their subjects. It also uses the cutter number.

It is also accepted globally as is used in every part of the globe in classifying library materials.

The second one is Deway Decimal classification scheme which is also accepted globally and was created to enable libraries to classify information materials.

The third one is Universal Decimal classification, Just like DDC universal also uses numbers but has a distinction of not using decimals in classifying.

It is commonly used in special libraries, example agricultural libraries, military libraries just but to mention some.
