Theory and Practice of Ecological Civilization is a bilingual smart course designed for graduate students. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, the course systematically examines the theoretical foundations, core concepts, institutional framework, and practical pathways of ecological civilization construction. It covers such key topics as the Beautiful China initiative, the green transition of development, the campaigns to protect blue skies, clear waters, and clean lands, ecological conservation and restoration, the coordinated development of digitalization and green transition, modern environmental governance, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and the global ecological governance. Supported by a smart learning platform, the course integrates bilingual instruction, case-based discussions, online learning, AI-powered question answering, and process-based assessment. It combines theoretical interpretation with China’s practical experience and aligns values education with capacity building. Upon completing the course, students will be able to understand the strategic significance and methodological requirements of ecological civilization construction, apply interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze ecological and environmental issues, contribute to green and low-carbon development, and communicate China’s vision of ecological civilization to an international audience.
