MARINE ENGINE ROOM SIMULATOR TRAINING aims at developing students' global understanding and practice ability of the ship engine room. The course includes the following five modules: ship power plant, engine room auxiliary equipment and system, ship propulsion system, comprehensive training and advanced training. Each module includes two parts: basic knowledge and practical demonstration. Basic knowledge mainly introduces the function, composition, working principle, design rules of engine room equipments. Practical demonstration mainly introduces operating procedures, precautions, and emergency procedures through simulation software.
The course is a core and compulsory course for students major in marine engineering. It's a necessary subject for the competency test of international marine engineers. The course is designed for students and seafarers in marine engineering and social learners who are interested in marine engineering.
The course is compatible with the International Convention on Standards for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers, the Rules of the People's Republic of China for Competency Examination and Certification of Seamen and relevant standards for marine simulator training, as well as IMO model course 2.07, 6.10, 7.02 and 7.04.
The course integrates numerical simulation, virtual reality, and online training. A website for simulators is available free for course learners. Fourteen ship models and hundreds of training tasks can be downloaded from the simulator. The simulator supports the functions such as saving and loading initial conditions, automatic evaluation, training playback, multi-user team training. The simulator has got the DNV CLASS A CERTIFICATE which is the most authoritative international certification organization in marine simulator.
