Fundamentals of Design is a professional foundational course offered for the major of Digital Media Technology, and it serves as an introductory course for design beginners. This course mainly consists of five modules: graphic design, color composition, three-dimensional composition, perspective basis, and light and shadow. After studying the theories of Fundamentals of Design, students will learn to apply design elements such as point, line, and plane, utilize color psychology, take advantage of the laws of spatial changes, and master the characteristics of different materials. By following the laws of perspective and the changes of light and shadow, and adhering to the basic design principles and aesthetic guidelines, through analysis, deconstruction, and reconstruction, they will combine design elements to create works that not only meet aesthetic requirements but also fulfill the needs of daily life.
This course adopts digital teaching methods. Through theoretical learning and the application of design cases in daily life, it presents knowledge in an easy-to-understand way. By means of case analysis, design practice, work appreciation, group discussions, etc., it combines theory with practice, stimulates the enthusiasm of learners, and encourages them to learn and explore actively, designing and creating popular design works.
