This course formulates various teaching, clinical and experimental teaching syllabi in accordance with the talent training objectives of different levels and types, including the five-year program of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and the long-term programs of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (the seven-year program and the 5+3 integrated program), such as Syllabus of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (for the Seven-year Program), Syllabus of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Experimental Syllabus of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and Assessment Syllabus of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Teaching is delivered for different majors in strict accordance with the teaching syllabi, with classroom lectures as the main form. Combined with multimedia teaching and experimental teaching, it strengthens students' cognitive ability of the theoretical knowledge of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the field of otorhinolaryngology, and cultivates their practical operational ability as well as the ability to discover and solve problems. To deepen students' understanding of otorhinolaryngological diseases and improve teaching quality, a variety of teaching resources are fully utilized, including physical objects, specimens, models, projections, slides (including electronic slides), pictures, videos, VCDs and clinical cases. The theoretical teaching accounts for a total of 54 class hours, with 18 class hours each for the ear, nose and throat sections; the experimental teaching takes 18 class hours in total, with 6 class hours each for the ear, nose and throat sections. The course performance evaluation consists of process-based assessment and final assessment, in which the process-based assessment accounts for 60% (including 5% for attendance, 15% for after-class assignments and 20% for mid-term examination), and the final assessment accounts for 40%. Based on the summary of Students' Evaluation Form for Teachers' Classroom Teaching Quality filled out by students, the overall feedback on the course Clinical Otorhinolaryngology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine is positive, and students speak highly of the teaching of the course instructors. The student evaluation results have been excellent for three consecutive years. At the student forums and individual exchanges held, students expressed satisfaction with the teaching of this course, stating that instructors adopt a variety of teaching methods to fully arouse their learning enthusiasm and attach great importance to cultivating their self-learning ability in the teaching process. In particular, a major teaching reform has been carried out in the cultivation of undergraduate students majoring in Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Stomatology, with the adoption of a new teaching model integrating classroom lectures, clinical bedside teaching, thematic case discussions and expert seminars, which has achieved excellent teaching effects. Students have not only mastered the classroom theoretical knowledge, but also gained an understanding of the cutting-edge knowledge of the discipline, and more importantly, proficiently acquired the basic clinical operational skills. Therefore, they are well received by the instructors of the internship units during their internship and highly praised by employers after graduation.
