Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary field that applies the theories and methods of chemistry, physics, and mathematics to study life phenomena. It explores the essence of biological activities at the molecular level and forms an important part of the overall knowledge structure required for students in bioengineering. The course content includes three main components: the structures of biomolecules (static aspects of life), metabolism of matter and energy (dynamic processes), and the transmission of genetic information. It is a compulsory foundational course for undergraduate students majoring in Bioengineering.
Through this course, students will understand and master the relationships between the structures and functions of biomolecules, the metabolic pathways of biological substances within living organisms, and the basic principles of genetic information expression and regulation. The course deepens students’ understanding of biology and lays the necessary foundation for subsequent specialized courses.
