Many of you might wonder: I’ve studied English for over ten years — why do I need a post graduate English course? The answer is simple: the English used in research is very different from daily conversation. We have organized our course around four goals.
In developing and refining your language skills, you will build a comprehensive ability to accurately interpret complex scientific papers and detailed technical reports. Furthermore, you will gain proficiency in composing clear and concise abstracts that not only summarize key findings but also align fully with rigorous international standards, enabling effective communication in global academic and professional contexts.
To improve the academic literacy, you will learn how to conduct targeted searches, quickly assess the relevance and quality of papers, and synthesize findings from multiple sources into a coherent narrative. Beyond that, we will explore strategies for staying current—using email alerts, preprint repositories, and personalized feeds—so you can track emerging trends with ease. These competencies will empower you to work more efficiently, think more critically, and contribute confidently to ongoing academic discourse.
The third goal is cross-cultural communication. Whether you attend a large-scale international conference or engage in close collaboration with a team from a different country, you will consistently develop and refine the practical skills and profound cultural awareness needed to express your thoughts and ideas with clarity, confidence, and appropriateness across diverse and dynamic cultural contexts. Over time, this immersive experience enables you to navigate complex social and professional interactions, fostering mutual understanding, bridging communication gaps, and building stronger, more effective global relationships.
Value guidance is a special feature that sets our course apart from ordinary language programs. You will delve into a wide range of fields,
from the groundbreaking advances in 5G technology and high-speed railway systems that have revolutionized global communication and transportation,
to the remarkable breakthroughs in renewable energy such as solar power and hydropower,
and the cutting-edge innovations in artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Finally, having the ability to tell the story of China’s technological development in professional language.
The course is built around six cutting-edge topics. The first is “Autonomous Driving”, then “Artificial Intelligence”, “Space Exploration”, “Food Security”, “Cultural Heritage Protection”, and “Wellness & Technology”. For each topic, we follow the same four modules: academic listening & speaking, academic reading, academic writing, and China’s achievements. So you are not learning isolated facts — you are building a set of transferable academic English skills.
Take a look at this roadmap. Each topic stands on its own, yet the skills you develop will build progressively across all six modules.
I strongly recommend following this sequence, as key vocabulary, academic sentence patterns, and critical thinking strategies are deliberately revisited and reinforced at each stage.
This spiral design ensures that what you learn in one topic prepares you for the next, solidifying your competence through repeated practice and meaningful context.
