  • Week 1: Drawing Study: Types of views and projections, Limits and fits, Surface finish measurement, GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing), Measuring tools and inspection instruments
  • Week 2: Process Planning: Selection of machine tools based on operation type and machining parameters, Process sequencing based on component geometry and manufacturing requirements
  • Week 3: Cutting Tool Selection: Inserts and tool holders for turning operations, Milling cutters and end mills, Tool clamping systems
  • Week 4: Fixture Design (Manual & Hydraulic Fixtures): Basic principles of fixture design, Fixture design based on component datum, Five industry-oriented fixture design concepts covering: Multiple-component fixtures, Applications on VMC and HMC CNC machines. One complete multi-component industrial hydraulic fixture design covering: Concept design, Detailed design, Assembly manufacturing drawings, Individual fixture part manufacturing drawings, Hydraulic piping design
  • Week 5: Live Industry NPD Case Studies: Six real-world industry examples demonstrating step-by-step NPD implementation using CNC machining: HMC industrial component development (2 examples), CNC industrial lathe component, Combined VMC and CNC lathe component, Industrial turn-mill component, Rope drum component
  • Week 6: Systems in NPD: Lean manufacturing systems, Significance of CAM in cost estimation
  • Week 7: Current Trends in Manufacturing: “First Part Right at the Fastest Time” (Green Button Concept), Integration of CAD/CAM in manufacturing, Factors affecting machining cost estimation
  • Week 8: Hands-on practical training at AMTDC, IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, focusing on: Practical CNC machining of components based on developed part programs, Tool presetting, Work offset measurement, and program verification on CNC machines, Process optimization and in-process inspection techniques, Exposure to advanced CNC equipment and industrial best practices, This module provides real-world shop-floor exposure and bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial implementation.
  • Week 9: Duration & Effort : Duration: 6 Weeks (Online learning with exercises and assignments), One Week Hands-on Practical Training at AMTDC, IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, Minimum Effort: 2 hours per day, Course Access: 6 months from the date of enrollment, Optional inclusion of Part Programming and Hands-on Training modules.
