This course introduces students to major movements in contemporary literary theory, tracing its development from New Criticism to Deconstruction. It examines how critical approaches such as Formalism, Structuralism, Marxism, and Post-structuralism redefine the meaning of literary texts. Key theorists including Ransom, Brooks, Shklovsky, Saussure, Barthes, Althusser, and Derrida are studied through core concepts and texts. The course emphasizes close reading, theoretical terminology, and the shifting relationship between language, structure, and meaning.
