Introduction to Geoinformatics refers to the fundamental concepts and principles of Geoinformatics, a field that combines Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and spatial analysis to understand and manage spatial data. This course provides a foundation for understanding the principles, methods, and applications of Geoinformatics, preparing students for more advanced studies and practical applications in various fields. This will help the students to have a firsthand information about the concepts of the subject of geoinformatics and work with a lot of spatial data that is freely available over the internet. This course also provides the basic expertise to work with the opensource GIS software QGIS and its mobile phone variant QField. The remote sensing concepts and digital image processing techniques are also introduced through this course. It is first of its kind in the regional language Malayalam.
