The proposed Swayam Course in Santali follows the goals of the NEP 2020, which encourages learning different languages and making language learning popular. This course is designed to help non-native learners improve their skills in Santali. Any undergraduate student with no prior knowledge of Santali can join the course. It will help you develop good communication and writing skills in Santali and teach you practical uses and creative ways to use the language.The course content is well-prepared in recorded videos as well as text materials. This setup provides a flexible learning environment where you can complete the course online at your own pace. You can also save the videos and text materials for later use. There will be an online session to clarify doubts within a week. The course ends with an online test that includes objective questions, descriptive answers, and an oral exam. Students who finish the course will receive a certificate recognizing their participation and achievements.The Swayam Course in Santali is part of the language training program offered by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL). This course is mainly for people who want to learn Santali as a second language. The first 16 weeks of the program make up the basic level. After finishing this part, learners can move on to intermediate and advanced levels. At these higher levels, learners will learn more about Santali, including the history of the land, its language, literature, and culture. They will also practice reading literary texts and translating between their language and Santali, along with other skills.
Syllabus
Dr. Sujoy Sarkar is a Lecturer cum Junior Research officer at Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore. He obtained an MA, MPhil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Since March 2016, he is handling theposition of Officer-in-charge for the Scheme for Protection & Preservation of Endangered Languages at CIIL. He has been part of the BhasaSanchika- Language Archive of India (yet to be launched). He is also the Principal in Charge of the Eastern Regional Language Centre. His research interests are: language issues in primary education in tribal areas, Language policy and planning, linguistic human rights, language endangerment and revitalisation issues.
