The National Education policy 2020 (NEP2020) places significant emphasis on language teaching and learning, recognising the crucial role that the language plays in education, identity, and cognitive development. NEP 2020’s focus on language teaching is aimed to providing equitable and inclusive education that respects India’s linguistic diversity while preparing students for globalised world where multilingual skills are increasingly valuable.This course is designed to fulfill the implications of NEP2020 regarding Indian Languages. To promote the language initiative of NEP2020, this course teaches Assamese to the non-native speakers of the language. It includes recorded videos, text materials in portable document format and references. Together, it creates a flexible learning environment; participants can complete the course online and save the videos and text materials for further reference. A face-to-face doubt clearing session is scheduled in every week.This course is designed to provide with a solid foundation in Assamese language essentials, from script and pronunciation to grammar, vocabulary, and cultural insights. Each topic is crafted to support learning journey and prepare the learner for effective communication and engagement with Assamese language and culture.
