  • This was my first ever MOOC. I found it to be very informative and accessible. The content was interesting and delivered in an easy to understand way. There were plenty of opportunities to test my knowledge without me feeling intimidated or overwhelmed. It completely changed my ideas about Parkinson's and the contributors to the MOOC were truly impressive and inspiring people. It left me full of hope. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who has an interest in learning more about Parkinson's.

  • have successfully completed the Parkinson’s MOOC, an in-depth online course that provided comprehensive knowledge about the biological basis, symptoms, treatment options, and lifestyle management of Parkinson’s disease. Incredible course. I have Parkinson’s and especially liked the section on medications and the different stages of Parkinson’s. This course is brave and talks about what happens in later stages and even the dying part. But you can skip over that part if you want to. But I didn’t want to and just having knowledge about it helps me feel calmer and inspired to live as well as possible. It’s good to see subjects are covered that are hard to find in other courses

I think this is an amazing course, so well researched and presented and designed to meet the needs of such a wide range of interested people, it it pitched at the right level to suit most students, i.e people with Parkinson's, family, health professionals etc., wanting to gain more knowledge and evidence based information about all aspects of the disease. I also think that the incredible range of consumers and health professionals from all around the world who have contributed to this course has made it such an enlightening and credible experience. It is also an excellent platform to launch into more advanced study in the area of Parkinson's disease to support health workers.

This course has taught me so much about how well it is possible to live with Parkinson's. It is not the horror-filled sentence it once was and so much wonderful progress has been made in the area of varied treatments tailored for the individual needs of each person and the holistic approach of the patient centred team.
It has changed my mindset, so I feel I can now face the future more positively if that is my lot or that of someone close to me.
I am so grateful for the dedication and generosity of the people who have created this MOOC and can't recommend it highly enough to everyone.

I am deeply grateful to the University of Tasmania for offering this exceptional MOOC free of charge. As a 4th-year medical student, I took this course to enhance my knowledge and skills, which has been incredibly beneficial during my clinical rotations. This MOOC provided a comprehensive guide, covering topics from basic to advanced, including the pathology of Parkinson's disease, its risk factors, prevention strategies, and treatment options. The course content was well-structured, and the instructors were knowledgeable and engaging. I appreciated the opportunity to learn from renowned experts in the field, and I'm confident that the knowledge gained will greatly impact my future practice as a medical professional.

Completing Parkinson’s MOOC challenges and dispels preconceived ideas about the illness in several ways. Importantly it is not an “old persons” illness it has an “early onset” group who learn that a good quality of life with medication, healthy diet, exercise to name a few aids can be attained. Those living with Parkinson’s are helped by the enormous amount of research that continues and the positive results coming from such. It educates those not experiencing the illness on ways of connecting with and including those with Parkinson’s.

I want to thank MOOC, University of Tasmania, Professor Jane Alty andMs. Michele Callisaya and all the people who are involve in this project.
I really appreciate what I have learned and discovered that I might have Parkinson's myself. Hopefully I could find a neurologist who is very much aware of MOOC.
I have shared your MOOC website with one of my friends and I will share it to others too.
    Thank you so much.

As a person who has had PD for nearly 21 years I felt I had a good understanding of the causes and effects of the condition but this course reinforced much of my knowledge but also updated my information on recent developments in treatment and research. It was also beneficial just hearing from others with PD.
It made me feel encouraged to continue to aim high and live well.

The content of the Program is good but there could be some improvement on layout and presentation. I got a bit bored with some of the presentations. Also, what you have provided is a very useful information document about Parkinson's and maybe you could have someone such as the Michael J Fox foundation or similar take on the promotion of your product. I know when I was first diagnosed with Parkison's 6 years ago it was difficult for me to find a good source of overall information about it without going to multiple sources. Your program certainly fills this gap, a "one stop information document". Good Luck with the Program it is so important for sufferers of Parkinson's to get access to the information you provide.

I am a long-term Parkinson sufferer and for me this excellent course was at a level much higher than I could have hoped for. It is world class with the finest of the specialist professionals leading/working in the field providing content. The scientific basis is solid; the practical explanations are many and varied and spot on, the understanding of the disease and its impact supported with material from all involved. The personal anecdotes and stories are relevant and moving. Packaged cleverly by the course designers it was incredibly important to me. I recommend this MOOC most highly indeed.

Easy and informative. Great recap of knowledge and well presented. Thank you, I know my care staff are finding it very informative and this helps them care for our residents living with parkinsons.

I am very impressed by the amount of work the two leaders have done to find such a wide range of presenters in both the health-related professions and people who have experienced Parkinson's in so many different ways. The insights into the roles of the health professionals were very informative for all of us, not necessarily people with Parkinson's. So many of the problems facing people with Parkinson's are also problems facing us all as we age, and the solutions found by many of the contributors were enlightening, and good food for thought. Congratulations to all involved in putting the MOOC together. I will certainly be keeping an eye on developments in the future.
