This course about financial technology, or FinTech, is for students wishing to explore the ways in which new technologies are disrupting the financial services industry—driving material change in business models, products, applications and customer user interface. Amongst the significant technological trends affecting financial services into the 2020’s, the class will explore AI, deep learning, blockchain technology and open APIs. Students will gain an understanding of the key technologies, market structure, participants, regulation and the dynamics of change being brought about by FinTech.

This course has given be a basic and simpler structured, yet understandable way of where financial systems is headed on a technological standpoint. Financial technology is reinventing the ease of making and receiving payments on a global scale. Be it Online Visa cards, Portable swipe machines, bitcoin, electronic accounts which can allow instantaneous payments to be made within the click of a button with this rapid change innovations have erupted which allow payments to be made internationally between different financial systems and organizations. Online shopping is now one. one of the easiest ways to sell and buy goods globally look at the Global giant Alibaba. Citizens of third world countries using PayPal or online visa cards are able to transact effortlessly without leaving their homes. Using delivery services like DHL in Zimbabwe the goods arrive at your doorstep without even flinching.
Compound interest rates now calculated with AI technology a process which required booklets of paper now done in minutes in banks these were difficult computations now done with several clicks. Imagine now with the latest advancement in technology chips can be implanted into the human hand allowing ease of payments imagine just scanning your hand over a payment system and a payment is done. Fintech technology. Has evolved to the point where company financial statements can be done with ease using accounting software like Pastel and Odoo.
