Cyber Security professionals often implement applications (ie, “agents”) that can obtain telemetry data from various critical host devices (such as webservers, fileservers, and employee laptops) to spot malicious activity related to those devices. But have you considered the need to extract telemetry data from the network itself? For those unfamiliar with the term “telemetry” this course starts by introducing and explaining that topic. It then proceeds to explain why telemetry should be extracted from network devices and various ways to accomplish that task. You’ll be introduced to large-scale logging collectors such as Splunk, ELK Stack, and Graylog. You’ll see how the Cisco Firepower Management Center can extract and display telemetry data received from Cisco Firepower appliances. You’ll also learn how obtaining packet captures through tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump can be important elements of network telemetry and much more. Whether you’re studying for a certification like Cisco’s CCNA Cybersecurity, or simply interested in the concept of network telemetry, this course is for you!
