Working with the Shell

This module introduces the fundamentals of using the Linux shell, focusing on command syntax, file management, and input/output redirection. Learners will gain practical skills to interact with Linux systems beyond the graphical interface, enabling efficient troubleshooting and system navigation.

Introducing Basic System Administration

This module introduces essential Linux system administration concepts, including boot processes, service management, device handling, and performance monitoring. Learners will explore both command-line and graphical tools to manage and maintain system stability and efficiency. Practical skills such as scheduling jobs and configuring drivers are also covered.

Managing Users and Groups

This module introduces the fundamentals of user and group management in Linux, emphasizing access control, file ownership, and the use of command-line tools for secure administration. Learners will gain practical skills in organizing users and groups to maintain system security and efficiency.

Managing File Systems

This module introduces the fundamentals of Linux file system management, including mounting storage devices, configuring network file sharing with NFS, and accessing Windows file systems. Learners will gain practical skills for organizing, sharing, and managing files across different platforms.

Hosting Internet Services

This module introduces the fundamentals of Linux server operations, focusing on configuring and managing essential Internet services such as web, database, and email servers. Learners will explore how Linux servers handle multiple client requests and provide critical network resources for both Internet and local network environments.

Managing a Web Server

This module introduces the fundamentals of installing, configuring, and managing Apache and NGINX web servers on Linux systems. Learners will explore key concepts such as virtual hosting, server logging, and security best practices to ensure efficient and secure web server operation.

Managing a Database Server

This module guides learners through installing, configuring, and interacting with MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL on Linux systems. You will gain hands-on experience with command-line tools, database setup, user account management, and the creation of essential database objects. By the end, you'll be able to confidently manage and operate open-source database servers.

Working with Samba and NFS

This module introduces learners to cross-platform file sharing using NFS and Samba on Linux systems. You will gain practical skills in configuring NFS for Unix-based sharing and setting up Samba for Windows compatibility, including both manual and GUI-based configuration methods.

Managing Mail Servers

This module introduces the fundamentals of configuring and managing email servers using Postfix or sendmail. Learners will discover how mail transport and user agents work, set up mail forwarding with the .forward file, and test mail delivery on a Linux system.
