  • HVAC Overview
    • This module provides a high-level introduction to the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry. It explores the various energy sources used for heating—such as gas, electric, and solar—and highlights the critical role of ventilation in maintaining indoor air quality. Students will also gain an understanding of the industry's business structure, from the manufacturing of units to the essential maintenance performed by skilled technicians.
  • HVAC Systems
    • This module provides an overview of common residential and commercial HVAC configurations, ranging from multi-unit split systems to single-room cooling solutions. It explores the specific hardware requirements for each type, such as the use of ductwork in split systems versus the ductless nature of mini-split units. Additionally, it covers specialized equipment like boilers for hydronic heating and rooftop packaged units designed for large-scale commercial climate control.
  • System Components
    • This module provides an introductory overview of the essential hardware components that comprise modern HVAC systems. It explores the relationship between indoor units like gas furnaces and coils, and outdoor units such as condensing units and heat pumps. Students will learn how these parts are interconnected via line sets and ductwork to regulate temperature and maintain air safety within residential and commercial structures.
  • How it Works
    • This module provides a look at the mechanical processes behind indoor climate control. It tracks the journey of air as it is conditioned by a gas furnace during winter and a condensing unit during summer. Students will explore how thermostats trigger system responses and how refrigerant and air move through the system to maintain a comfortable living environment.
  • HVAC Placement
    • This module explores the logic behind the physical placement of HVAC equipment within residential and commercial structures. It explains why certain units are situated outdoors for airflow while others are housed in basements, attics, or closets to interface with internal ductwork. Additionally, the content covers the specialized application of mini-splits and boilers, concluding with the specific temperature setpoints defined for seasonal comfort cooling and heating.
