Full-stack development means understanding both the backend and front-end needs for your client or organization. “Web Development Fundamentals: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript” provides the basic building blocks for creating sleek, interactive web applications. The course begins with the fundamentals of HTML, where you’ll learn to define the content of a webpage. You’ll then move to CSS — helping your browser render the content you’ve coded. By watching the course videos, reading the interactive textbook, and completing the assignments, you will learn how to deploy accessible, functional, and personalized web applications with limited interactivity. This will also lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of JavaScript in the courses that follow. This is the first course in a four-part series, “Practical JavaScript: From Scratch to React,” that provides you with hands-on experience in creating seamless front- and back-end applications.

Syllabus

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) Fundamentals

In this module, you will learn how to create page content using HTML. HTML is one of three languages you will learn for this course and is foundational, as it will define the content that users view when visiting your website or user interface.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) Fundamentals

In this module, you will learn how to style page content using CSS. CSS is one of three languages you will learn for this course and is essential, as it defines the visual presentation and layout of the content that users view when visiting your website or user interface.

Introduction to Programming with JavaScript

This module is a first step into programming with JavaScript, which is the language that underpins the modern web. You will learn the fundamentals of writing code with the JavaScript language. This module does not assume any prior programming experience.

JavaScript Fundamentals

In this module, you will learn how to add interactivity and functionality to web pages using JavaScript. JavaScript is one of three core languages you will learn in this course and is essential, as it enables dynamic behavior, user interactions, and functionality within your website or user interface. Will cover the very basics of Javascript so that you are equipped with foundational knowledge that we will build on in subsequent courses in this series.
