Syllabus

Socialization, Social Structure, Deviance, and Control

In this course, we will focus on examining a core process in society, which is socialization. You will learn how socialization shapes us to become who we are in our given societies. After we learn about the different agents of socialization we will then consider how our lives are shaped by broader social forces, such as social structure and social interactions. We end the course by learning about the concept of social deviance, which is behavior that violates social norms.
