  • Education and Religion
    • In this course, we take a close look at two major social institutions: education and religion. In our study of the education system, we learn how education is a major socializing force in our lives. Through our involvement in the education system, we learn about social norms and how to be functional members of society. Then, in the chapter about religion, we learn how religion shapes our sense of self and our identities. We also learn about the collective experiences that religion can provide, such as group solidarity and unity, but also division and conflict.
