Master the principles, processes, and techniques required to manage projects successfully from initiation through closure. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of project management process frameworks, enabling learners to plan, execute, monitor, and control projects using structured methodologies aligned with industry best practices. The course begins with the foundations of project management, introducing project lifecycles, process groups, project constraints, communication principles, and risk fundamentals. Learners will gain a clear understanding of how projects differ from ongoing operations and how structured project management contributes to successful outcomes. As the course progresses, learners explore key project management knowledge areas including project integration, stakeholder management, procurement, human resource management, and project planning. The course demonstrates how project charters and project management plans provide direction and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. Advanced modules focus on requirement gathering, stakeholder analysis, scope definition, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development. Learners will apply practical techniques such as interviews, brainstorming, focus groups, affinity diagrams, and context diagrams to capture and organize project requirements effectively. The course also covers activity definition, sequencing, dependency management, estimation techniques, schedule development, and project optimization. Learners will apply Critical Path Method (CPM), Critical Chain Method (CCM), float analysis, resource optimization, schedule compression, and Gantt chart visualization to manage project timelines effectively. What makes this course unique is its end-to-end approach, combining project management frameworks, scope management, requirement analysis, scheduling methodologies, and project control techniques into one cohesive learning experience. By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently manage project processes, develop structured plans, optimize schedules, and drive successful project outcomes in professional environments.

Syllabus

  • Foundations of Project Management
    • This module introduces the fundamental concepts of project management, including its definition, characteristics, lifecycle, and core process groups. Learners will explore how projects differ from operations, understand key constraints such as scope, time, and cost, and gain insights into risk and communication fundamentals. This foundation prepares learners to navigate structured project environments effectively.
  • Managing Key Knowledge Areas
    • This module focuses on essential knowledge areas including procurement, stakeholder management, human resource management, and project integration. Learners will understand how to manage stakeholders effectively, develop project charters, and create project management plans to guide execution and coordination.
  • Project Execution & Control
    • This module covers project execution processes, monitoring and controlling mechanisms, and integrated change control. Learners will understand how to manage deliverables, track performance, handle changes systematically, and formally close projects or phases.
  • Requirement Gathering & Analysis
    • This module dives into requirement collection techniques and analytical methods. Learners will explore interviews, focus groups, brainstorming, and tools such as affinity diagrams and context diagrams to effectively gather and analyze stakeholder requirements.
  • Defining and Structuring Scope
    • This module focuses on defining project scope, creating detailed scope statements, and structuring work using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS). Learners will also explore scope validation and control to prevent scope creep and ensure project alignment.
  • Scope Control & Time Management Intro
    • This module bridges scope control with time management fundamentals. Learners will understand how to manage scope changes, plan schedules, and define project activities that serve as the foundation for scheduling and execution.
  • Activity Sequencing & Planning
    • This module explores activity sequencing, dependency determination, and resource estimation. Learners will gain practical understanding of sequencing techniques such as PDM, leads and lags, and resource planning.
  • Estimation & Scheduling Techniques
    • This module focuses on estimating activity durations and developing project schedules. Learners will explore techniques such as analog estimating, three-point estimating, and reserve analysis, along with schedule development tools.
  • Critical Path & Optimization
    • This module introduces critical path analysis, float determination, and advanced scheduling techniques such as Critical Chain Method and resource optimization. Learners will understand how to identify critical activities and optimize project schedules.
  • Schedule Optimization & Control
    • This module focuses on schedule compression techniques, visualization tools like Gantt charts, and schedule control processes. Learners will understand how to optimize timelines and manage schedule performance effectively.
