In this course, you will build foundational Confluence skills for navigating, creating, and organizing content before moving into more specialized workflows. You will learn how to use the Confluence interface, create personal spaces, build page trees, and structure pages for clarity and discoverability. You will also explore page formatting, tagging and labeling, space organization, and system configuration. As you progress, you will practice creating pages, organizing hierarchies, improving readability with formatting elements, and applying labels to support search and navigation. You will also examine how Confluence spaces can be structured for teams and projects and how configuration changes can affect usability, performance, and stability. This course establishes the platform literacy required for the rest of the program.

Syllabus

  • Master Confluence Basics: Why Confluence Matters in Everyday IT Work
    • This module will ground you in how Confluence is actually used across IT organizations. Rather than teaching features in isolation, you will connect Confluence to real operational workflows such as documentation, collaboration, task tracking, and knowledge sharing.
  • Master Confluence Basics: Navigating Confluence to Build a Personal Space
    • This module moves from conceptual understanding to hands-on platform navigation. You will practice creating a personal Confluence space, adding pages, and confirming structural elements that support long-term usability.
  • Navigate Pages & Trees: How Page Hierarchy Shapes Navigation and Breadcrumbs
    • You will explore how page hierarchy shapes breadcrumb navigation in shared workspaces. You will also examine how parent-child page relationships determine breadcrumb trails and practice predicting how breadcrumb paths change when pages are moved or reorganized. Through walkthroughs and exercises, you will learn to anticipate navigation impacts before restructuring pages.
  • Navigate Pages & Trees: Building Page Trees and Sidebar Shortcuts
    • You will design page trees and apply sidebar shortcuts to create clear and scalable navigation. You will also explore how thoughtful page hierarchy supports discoverability and trust in shared workspaces. Through guided examples and a hands-on activity, you will practice structuring page trees and adding shortcuts that improve access without breaking navigation structure.
  • Format Pages Like A Pro: Identify Key Formatting Elements in Confluence
    • You will identify and distinguish core Confluence formatting elements and understand when each should be used to improve page clarity and scannability.
  • Format Pages Like A Pro: Reformat a Text-Heavy SOP Using Tables and Info Panels
    • You will apply formatting techniques to transform a text-heavy SOP into a structured, professional page using tables and a blue Info panel.
  • Tag Content Smartly: Analyzing How Labels Improve Search and Content Discovery
    • You will explore how labels improve search results in team workspaces. Through workplace examples, you will build a clear understanding of how labels make content easier to find, improve search accuracy, and help teams find the right content faster.
  • Tag Content Smartly: Applying Labels to Organize and Retrieve Content
    • You will apply consistent labeling practices by adding three relevant labels to an existing page and verifying that it appears in label-based search results. Through guided practice, you will build confidence in selecting meaningful labels, applying them correctly, and checking that labeled content can be found reliably.
  • Structure Confluence Spaces: Designing Confluence Spaces for Project and Team Work
    • In this module, you will learn how to design Confluence spaces intentionally so your documentation remains clear and scalable as your organization grows. You will explore common structural pitfalls, compare project-based and team-based space models, and practice building a structured Confluence environment using templates and standardized space design.
  • Structure Confluence Spaces: Auditing and Restructuring Confluence for Better Navigation
    • In this module, you will shift from building structure to diagnosing and improving it. You will identify structural anti-patterns, evaluate navigation health, and analyze space-tree reports to uncover problems. Through guided analysis and a hands-on audit activity, you will propose a governance-driven restructuring plan for an existing Confluence workspace.
  • Tune Confluence Settings: Optimize Confluence Performance
    • You will configure core Confluence performance settings, focusing on plugins, caching, CDN usage, and space-level design choices that directly impact page load speed and user experience.
  • Tune Confluence Settings: Validate and Safeguard Performance Gains
    • You will validate performance improvements through load testing, interpret response-time metrics, and make rollback decisions to protect system stability.
