Syllabus

  • Projects and Project Management
    • In this course, you will explore projects and project management. You will begin by defining a project and distinguishing it from non-project activities such as operations. You will learn how projects deliver value to customers, stakeholders, and the organization performing the project. You will also define the project's environment. Next, you will delve into project management and its domains, understanding its value and benefits. You will define the role of a project manager and the skills required, which are outlined in the talent triangle. This includes ways of working, covering the technical skills of project management like cost, schedule, and risk, and how they apply to different project approaches; power skills, including leadership, team motivation, decision-making, and conflict management; and business acumen, involving strategic decision-making and maximizing project value. You will also learn how projects fit into programs and portfolios, define the project management office and the steering committee, and understand how portfolios can be tailored for adaptive approaches. Finally, you will explore the different project structures you may encounter, such as functional, matrix, and projectized.
