  • Introduction
    • In this module, we will set the stage for your learning journey with Microsoft Purview. You'll gain a clear understanding of what the course entails, meet your instructor, and explore how Microsoft Purview fits into the broader data governance landscape. Additionally, you'll learn the necessary technical requirements to follow along with the hands-on components.
  • Setting Up Azure and Microsoft Purview Resource
    • In this module, we will guide you through setting up the foundational Azure environment required for Microsoft Purview. You'll learn how to create resource groups, provision the Purview resource, and manage user roles and permissions to ensure secure access. These steps form the groundwork for implementing enterprise data governance.
  • Microsoft Purview & Azure Data Lake Storage
    • In this module, we will connect Azure Data Lake Storage to Microsoft Purview and explore its metadata scanning capabilities. You'll learn how to register data sources, configure scans, and begin working with data products. The module also introduces browsing and publishing workflows, while addressing current limitations with CSV and ADLS-based assets.
  • Microsoft Purview & Azure SQL Database
    • In this module, we will walk through the steps of integrating Azure SQL Database with Microsoft Purview. You'll create the SQL resource, configure access, load sample data, and run scans to populate the data catalog. Finally, we’ll review the scan results and discuss metadata visibility within the platform.
  • Data Products in Microsoft Purview
    • In this module, we will focus on creating and managing data products in Microsoft Purview. You’ll learn how to curate meaningful data products from existing assets and make them discoverable for end-users. We’ll also explore the consumer experience of searching and shopping for data within the catalog.
  • Data Quality & Glossary in Microsoft Purview
    • In this module, we will explore Microsoft Purview’s capabilities for managing data quality and business metadata. You’ll configure profiling connections, create and execute quality scans, and review results to identify data issues. Finally, you’ll learn to build a glossary of standardized business terms to support data governance.
  • Connecting Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric & Data Lineage
    • In this module, we will connect Microsoft Fabric to Microsoft Purview and perform metadata scans to catalog its assets. You'll configure the integration, initiate the scans, and explore how Purview captures lineage to map end-to-end data flow. This visibility supports transparency and governance across modern data platforms.
  • Conclusion
    • In this module, we will wrap up the course with a review of your accomplishments and key takeaways. You’ll reflect on the hands-on work done with Microsoft Purview and consider how to apply these skills in real-world scenarios. Finally, we’ll offer guidance on how to continue your journey in enterprise data governance.
