Syllabus

Building Exterior Elements and Using the Extension Warehouse

This module guides learners through constructing building exterior elements in SketchUp and introduces the use of extensions and plugins to enhance modeling efficiency. Participants will learn how to find, install, and manage extensions from the Extension Warehouse, as well as add architectural features, 3D text, and client logos to their models. By the end, learners will be able to customize and complete exterior designs using both built-in and third-party tools.

Adding Interior Elements and 3D Warehouse Furnishings

This module guides learners through the process of enhancing SketchUp models with interior architectural details and furnishings. You will learn how to cut openings for doors, build baseboards, and efficiently incorporate premade 3D models from the 3D Warehouse. By the end, you'll be able to personalize your designs with both custom and imported elements.

Modeling Furniture – From the Basics to Intricacy

This module guides learners through the process of modeling custom furniture pieces in 3D, from basic shapes to more intricate components. You will explore techniques such as tracing, extrusion, and radial arrays to create detailed models like aprons, cushions, and decorative trays. By the end, you'll be able to construct and organize complex furniture elements for realistic 3D presentations.

Applying and Customizing Colors and Materials

This module guides learners through the process of enhancing SketchUp models by applying, customizing, and editing colors and materials. You will explore built-in and custom material options, learn to paint on complex surfaces, and master techniques for importing and modifying textures. By the end, you'll be able to create visually compelling 3D designs with personalized materials.

Enhancing a Model with Details for Final Presentation

This module guides learners through enhancing their SketchUp models with detailed accessories, effective shading techniques, and creative style selections for impactful final presentations. You will explore performance-friendly rendering options and practice applying different visual styles to elevate the look and feel of your 3D designs.

Exporting Images and Animations

This module guides learners through the process of exporting images and animations from SketchUp, including batch exporting multiple scenes and creating interactive walk-throughs. You will also discover how to use the Walk tool for immersive model navigation and how to export designs to scale for professional presentations.
