Advance your skills in assembly programming by exploring control flow, memory manipulation, stack management, and file operations. Learn to develop complex assembly projects and deepen your understanding of low-level software behavior. This course delves into advanced assembly language topics, including jumps, loops, stack frames, macros, and file I/O. You will develop and analyze assembly projects, manipulate memory, and gain a comprehensive understanding of how functions and variables operate at the lowest level. By the end of the course, you will be able to create robust assembly programs and perform sophisticated binary manipulations. Engaging video demonstrations and in-depth readings guide you through advanced programming concepts and real-world applications. Quizzes reinforce your learning as you progress toward mastery of assembly and memory management. This course is part three of a three-course Specialization designed to build a complete and cohesive understanding of the subject. While it offers valuable skills on its own, you'll gain the most benefit by progressing through all three courses as a structured learning journey. Syllabus

  • Jump and Loop
    • This module explores conditional jumps and control flow in assembly programming, helping learners understand how to manipulate program execution based on specific conditions. It covers various jump instructions and their practical applications in low-level code development. By the end, learners will be able to implement and analyze conditional logic in assembly language.
  • Assembly Project Using Jump and Loop
    • This module guides learners through the development and testing of an assembly language project that incorporates loops and calculator functionality. Students will gain hands-on experience in writing and debugging assembly code, focusing on control structures and program execution. By the end, learners will have a functional project that demonstrates core assembly language concepts.
  • Memory Manipulation
    • This module introduces learners to the fundamentals of memory manipulation using assembly language, including practical project development and the use of tools like READELF and GDB for testing and analysis. Learners will gain hands-on experience in debugging and inspecting low-level program behavior.
  • Calculator with Assembly
    • This module guides learners through the process of building a functional calculator in assembly language. It covers defining variables, implementing arithmetic operations, and refining program functionality. Learners will gain hands-on experience with assembly programming and register usage.
  • Stack
    • This module explores the fundamentals of stack operations in assembly language, focusing on how data is pushed, popped, and managed within the stack structure. Learners will gain practical knowledge of stack behaviors and their role in low-level programming. The content provides a foundation for understanding memory organization and control flow.
  • Functions
    • This module introduces the fundamental concepts of functions in assembly language, covering their creation, implementation, and the role of local variables. Learners will gain practical skills in writing and managing functions, enhancing their understanding of low-level programming techniques.
  • Stack Frame and External Functions
    • This module covers the structure and behavior of stack frames and how external functions are developed and called in assembly language. Learners will gain a foundational understanding of low-level programming concepts and improve their ability to write efficient, modular code.
  • FuncArg and Preserving Registers
    • This module explores the critical concept of register preservation in assembly language, focusing on how to manage limited register resources efficiently. Learners will gain an understanding of the implications of running out of registers and strategies to maintain program integrity. The content emphasizes practical techniques to prevent data loss during complex operations.
  • Bits Everywhere!!!
    • This module delves into the fundamental role of bits in computer systems, focusing on their manipulation and significance in low-level programming. Learners will gain a foundational understanding of how data is represented and handled at the bit level, which is essential for working with assembly language.
  • Macros
    • This module introduces the fundamental concepts of macros in assembly programming, including their syntax, usage, and practical applications. Learners will gain an understanding of how macros simplify code writing and enhance program efficiency. The module provides hands-on examples to reinforce key concepts.
  • Console IO and File IO
    • This module focuses on handling input in assembly programming, emphasizing secure methods and best practices to prevent common errors and vulnerabilities.
  • File IO
    • This module covers essential file input/output operations in assembly language, including creating, opening, writing, deleting, and overwriting files. Learners will gain practical skills in managing files through low-level programming techniques and complete a final file manipulation task.
