Supplemental Material – What Can I Share?
- This module explores the role of supplemental materials in enhancing and supporting journal articles. You will learn how to evaluate different types of supplemental content, determine when they are appropriate to include, and select the most effective materials to strengthen your research. The module also examines how formats such as visual abstracts, podcasts, and videos can increase the visibility and impact of your publication.
Supplemental Material: Technical and Legal Considerations
- This module provides an overview of the requirements and best practices for preparing images, figures, and multimedia files for publication. You will learn how to create and submit high-quality visual, video, and audio materials that meet common publisher standards, as well as how to address important legal and ethical considerations to ensure a smooth publication process.
Reusing Third-Party Material
- This module introduces the key copyright and permissions considerations involved in reusing content in journal articles. You will learn the fundamentals of copyright in academic publishing, how to determine whether material can be reused, and how to follow appropriate permissions and licensing requirements when incorporating text, images, or other content into your manuscript.
Sharing Data and Related Materials

Turning Your Thesis Into an Article
- This module explores the process of adapting academic thesis work for publication in a journal. You will learn about the key differences between theses and journal articles, as well as practical strategies for refining, restructuring, and presenting your research in a format that meets the expectations of journal editors and readers.
