Healthcare IT support doesn't stop at Microsoft tools; clinical staff depend on systems like Epic Hyperspace every day, and this course prepares you to support them. Designed for learners connecting Microsoft support skills to healthcare systems, it requires no prior EHR experience, though basic M365 and IT support knowledge is helpful. You'll learn client-side app support for healthcare tech on Microsoft infrastructure, keeping care teams focused on patients. You'll practice resolving Epic Hyperspace client-side errors—connectivity drops, print queue stalls, password resets—and escalating complex issues to the Epic Analyst team. You'll also validate user access, check EHR workstations and telehealth endpoints using readiness checklists, and diagnose failure points for Teams virtual visits. By the end of the course, you'll apply Epic-anchored workflows that translate directly to Oracle Cerner, Meditech, and other major EHR platforms, gaining high-value keywords healthcare recruiters look for.

Syllabus

  • Project Module: Restore Telehealth Access Before a Patient Visit
    • Work a coordinated time-pressured Tier 1 support ticket end-to-end. Nurse Practitioner Rivera has a scheduled outpatient telehealth follow-up visit beginning in 20 minutes with a patient who manages type 2 diabetes. She's reporting concurrent issues: her Epic Hyperspace client isn't opening the patient's chart cleanly, her workstation's readiness for the video visit is uncertain, and the Teams virtual visit link she was sent doesn't seem to be working. Your job is to work each domain through documented Tier 1 procedures, triaging the Epic chart access, validating her Health Information Management (HIM) permissions, verifying endpoint readiness, and running telehealth pre-session checks with failure point analysis, and produce a coordinated clinician communication with a proceed/delay/reschedule recommendation and rationale. This is the culminating LC 6 project: integrated Tier 1 discipline under real-time pressure, with warm-transfers to specialized teams for anything beyond the client-side scope.
