By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Apply Commvault security hardening and immutable storage settings to safeguard backup data from ransomware alteration or deletion - Analyze Commvault job logs and alert reports to diagnose and remediate the root cause of failed backup or restore operations - Evaluate recovery drill results against defined RPO/RTO objectives to confirm backup strategy effectiveness and audit readiness This course is unique because it bridges security hardening, operational log forensics, and compliance-grade recovery validation in a single hands-on short course using real Commvault workflows. To be successful in this course, you should have a background in Windows/Linux server administration and foundational backup operations at a CB2 intermediate level.

Syllabus

  • Hardening CommServe Access and DR Backup Against Ransomware Compromise
    • You configure Commvault authentication, password complexity, user role assignments, and CommServe DR backup settings to protect administrative access and the control plane from ransomware compromise.
  • Configuring Storage Immutability and Deletion Prevention Controls
    • You apply Commvault storage-layer immutability controls (disk library deletion prevention, storage pool Compliance Lock, and MediaAgent Ransomware Protection settings) to prevent modification or deletion of backup data by ransomware or unauthorized actors.
  • Detecting Ransomware and Isolating Backups with Threatwise, ThreatScan, and Air Gap Architecture
    • You deploy Commvault threat detection capabilities (Threatwise and ThreatScan) and air gap architecture to identify ransomware activity early and maintain isolated recovery copies that remain accessible when production and networked backup systems are compromised.
