Legal and Ethical Foundations

In this module, you will learn how healthcare data privacy is shaped by laws and regulations that vary across regions and continue to evolve. You will be introduced to major healthcare privacy regulations, with a focus on U.S. and international frameworks and how they differ in scope when regulating patient and personal data. The module also explores the ethical principles behind these regulations, such as autonomy, trust, and justice.
