Illustrator, podcaster, and speaker Andy J. Pizza takes the mystery out of finding your style with five hands-on exercises designed to help you explore who you are, what you value, and what you have to say. Who should take this course? It’s for every creative—whether you’re a designer, filmmaker, writer, musician, or illustrator, and regardless of your experience level or medium. To be successful, all you need is a willingness to experiment and a creative medium you enjoy working in. By the end of the course, you will be able to identify the influences and experiences that shape your creative identity, define what “good” means to you, translate your taste into your work, experiment with your own visual vocabulary, and create a personal style guide for future projects. Through Andy’s weird and wonderful examples, creative influences pyramid, style dice, and favorite discoveries, you’ll learn that finding your style isn’t about waiting for it to show up—it’s about finding yourself.

Syllabus

Understanding Style & Framing Your Creative Identity
- This module lays the foundation for discovering your creative identity. You’ll explore what style really means, unpack common myths, and examine the core ideas that shape how artists develop their unique voice. By the end, you’ll have a clearer framework for approaching your own style with intention and confidence.
Discovering Your Creative DNA & Patterns
- In this module, you’ll begin the hands-on process of uncovering your unique creative fingerprint. Through guided exercises, you’ll identify your influences and recognize patterns that naturally appear in your work. These insights will help you better understand what makes your creative voice distinct.
Expanding Your Creative World Through Exploration
- This module focuses on expanding and expressing your creative identity. You’ll explore how to translate who you are into tangible creative outputs while building a world of inspiration around you. These exercises help deepen your perspective and push your creative boundaries.
Defining & Applying Your Style Key
- In the final module, you’ll bring everything together by creating your personal style key—a clear, actionable representation of your creative identity. You’ll reflect on your journey, refine your insights, and learn how to continue evolving your style over time. This module ensures you leave with both clarity and momentum.
