Turn complex business problems into better, data-driven decisions with Prescriptive Analytics. Syllabus

Business Models for the Digital Age
- This course explores the transformative impact of emerging technologies on the future of business, focusing on blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). MBA students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these technologies are reshaping industries, driving innovation, and creating competitive advantages. The curriculum delves into blockchain's role in enhancing transparency and security, AI's potential in automating processes and enhancing decision-making, and IoT's capability to connect devices for smarter operations. Through case studies, hands-on projects, and expert guest lectures, students will learn to evaluate and implement these technologies in various business contexts. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the strategic insights and practical skills necessary to leverage emerging technologies for business growth and sustainability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. In this module, you will learn about how new-age business models have been facilitated by the new technologies. The availability of fast internet on smartphones has led to the emergence of platform-based business models where products and services are available for sharing and on-demand. The module also explores how coordination becomes a key value in these platforms matching the two sides of the market.
Digital Business Model: Drivers and Challenges
- In this module, you will learn about the key drivers and challenges for the business models of the digital age. Facilitated by technology, information sharing happens in ways that are different from the old ways of yester years. Modern businesses follow a “grow big fast” strategy as network effects make growth exponential. Platforms rely on digital mechanisms to establish trust between the two sides of the market. However, these platforms also face a lot of regulatory challenges as they challenge the old established way of doing business.

Emerging Trends in Digital Marketing
- In this module, you will learn about the different concepts of digital marketing and the needs and trends of digital marketing. You will gain insights into Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and its utility. Further, you will get introduced to influencer marketing and suggestions to firms willing to engage in influencer marketing. The module also focuses on Geofencing marketing, its benefits, and how a business can implement it in its marketing strategy.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- In this module, you will learn the basics and brief history of artificial intelligence (AI). You will learn about the machine intelligence continuum and how systems have been transformed. You will also go through different real-life examples of how AI has made an impact in our lives, followed by common tasks that can be carried out using AI. The role of Machine Learning in AI and its different forms will be covered in the module. Finally, you will learn about the role of ethics in AI and the implementation of AI in different applications across industries.
Cloud Computing
- In this module, you will learn about the definition, importance, benefits, and risks of cloud computing. You will also understand how cloud computing is different from on-premises infrastructure. Further, you will get acquainted with its deployment models such as public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud. The module will cover cloud service models, such as SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS. You will also learn about the differences in cloud service models.
Internet of Things
- In this module, you will understand the meaning and key characteristics of Internet of Things (IoT). You will learn about the typical process involved in the working of the IoT. You will learn about the benefits of deploying IoT in business and personal life. You will learn about the various industries where IoT finds extensive application. One such application is smart cities, which will be discussed in more detail in this module.

Big Data
- In this module, you will learn about the meaning of big data, rationale behind its use, and its characteristics in terms of 5 Vs. You will be introduced to the benefits and challenges of big data. You will also gain insights into its usefulness in healthcare, weather forecasting, and smart cities. Further, you will get acquainted with the Hadoop framework and its three layers, namely storage layer, processing layer, and resource management layer.
Emerging Trends in Cybersecurity and Privacy
- In this module, you will learn the basic concepts of cyber security. You will understand how often the term cybersecurity is incorrectly defined which leads to further ambiguity in its applications. You will learn about different forms of cybersecurity and its need in organizations. The module also examines the role of more advanced threats to organizations including ransomware. You will learn about the importance of data and the challenges associated with securing data. Finally, you will look at the role of social media on privacy.
Emerging Trends in Transportation Technologies
- In this module, you will learn about the new business models of mobility where rides are provided as service by the platforms. Self-driving cars with autonomy is another key area of innovation in mobility that has the potential of changing the way people move. To reduce the detrimental effect on the environment, there is a push towards electric vehicles. Drone technology has matured and is now deployed in various industries and has the potential to be used across industries such as delivery and disaster management. In this module, you will learn about the technologies related to electric vehicles and drones.
Blockchain and FinTech
- In this module, you will learn about the basics and meaning of blockchain. You will learn why blockchain is important and how powerful it is through different applications of blockchain in industries. You will learn some key terms and definitions associated with blockchain that will help you understand this technology better. You will also look at how a blockchain functions. Further, you will learn about different aspects of blockchain including cryptocurrencies.

Emerging Technology Trends in Manufacturing
- In this module, you will learn about the advancements in robotics technology and its integration into manufacturing. Further, the module explores 3D printing, a key disruption in manufacturing, which promises to alter our approach towards manufacturing. We further study how different technologies come together in modern industry to create Industry 4.0. Automation is widely used in businesses for process improvement. In this module, you will learn about the use of automation in logistics and warehousing.
New Realities
- In this module, you will learn about the basic concepts of immersive technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. You will be introduced to the differences between virtual reality and augmented reality and their uses. Further, you will be able to learn about the key capabilities of augmented reality. The module also covers the basics of deepfakes and its types.
