Explore the universal experiences of death and grief by examining the psychological and social factors that shape how we cope with the end of life. This course analyzes how our perceptions of mortality change from childhood through adulthood and explores different theories that explain the grieving process. By the end of this course, you will be able to analyze how individuals navigate the complex realities of dying, death, and bereavement.

  • Death and Dying
    • In this course, we’ll talk honestly about what happens when life ends, and how people experience and cope with death. You’ll learn about different types of death and how people’s ideas about death change as they grow older - from childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. We’ll look at what makes people fear death, how they prepare for it, and what the dying process is like. We’ll also explore different theories about grief, compare how people grieve, and discuss the effects grief can have on someone’s life. By the end of this course, you’ll have a better understanding of how people deal with death and loss, and why it’s important to talk about these experiences.
