As a leader in your organization, you're expected to help people meet or exceed expectations and to help ensure productivity and profitability for the organization. Coaching is a leadership tool that is effective in improving performance and contributing to the goals of the organization. In this course, you will build a foundation for coaching, establish a coaching process, execute a coaching plan, and explore strategies for coaching in different business scenarios. Many different factors can affect employee performance. When performance problems arise, people need to be supported to get back on track and do their jobs well. Coaching is an effective way of confirming an employee's value while improving performance. Coaching contributes to employee retention because it offers the opportunity to grow, provides motivation, and supports learning. Coaching also enhances the image and effectiveness of managers and supervisors. This course is intended for managers, supervisors, team members, team leaders, project managers, mentors, and anyone who needs to coach and provide constructive criticism as part of their job, and who wants to learn how to apply the coaching process to successfully improve the performance of others. In this course, you will: define coaching and determine how you want to coach, build a foundation for coaching, establish a coaching process, execute a coaching plan, and coach teams and coach remotely.

Syllabus

  • Defining Yourself as a Coach
    • You're a manager or leader who has employees with performance problems, or who want to develop and improve employees' existing skills. To accomplish these goals, you need to know what coaching is and how you want to approach it. In this lesson, you will define yourself as a coach.
  • Developing Core Coaching Skills
    • You've defined coaching and considered coaching approaches that might suit you. Before you can coach others you'll need to establish skills essential to effective coaching. In this lesson, you will develop core coaching skills.
  • Establishing a Coaching Process
    • You have built a foundation for coaching by defining it and developing essential skills. Now it's time to initiate the coaching relationship with your coachee and develop a plan to meet your coaching goals. In this lesson, you will establish a coaching process.
  • Executing the Coaching Plan
    • You've initiated a coaching relationship and agreed on a coaching plan with your team member. Now you'll want to move forward with the plan, make adjustments where needed, and finally, verify you and your coachee have achieved your coaching goals. In this lesson, you will execute the coaching plan.
  • Coaching in Different Business Scenarios
    • You've coached individuals by implementing your coaching plan. Now, it's time to acquire strategies for coaching in other situations. In this lesson, you will coach in different business scenarios.
  • Completing the Course
    • You'll wrap things up and then validate what you've learned in this course by taking an assessment.
