By the end of this course, you'll be able to place any workload on the cloud deployment spectrum, from fully public to fully private, and defend where you put it. You'll tell a deliberate multi-cloud strategy from a multi-cloud accident. You'll decide buy versus build for managed services, with lock-in priced instead of feared. You'll run infrastructure as versioned, reviewable code. You'll design cloud-native services that actually deliver what you're paying the cloud for. And you'll read a cloud bill closely enough to put cost on an architecture diagram, then plan an incremental migration nobody notices. Most cloud training teaches you a provider's console. This course teaches the judgment that sits above it. Real services get named throughout as examples, and no lesson is built around any single vendor's offering, so the reasoning stays useful as the platforms keep changing. The frameworks come from years of building and running systems at scale. The payoff is practical. You'll be able to defend a cloud decision to your engineers and to your CFO in the same conversation.

Syllabus

  • Cloud Architecture Models
    • Where should each workload live, and who should run its infrastructure? This module builds the three decision frameworks that anchor everything else in the course. The deployment spectrum, the multi-cloud posture, and buy versus build.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation
    • Hand-configured infrastructure is a liability you can't rebuild. This module makes the case for Infrastructure as Code, teaches the tool-agnostic patterns that make it work in practice, and extends the reasoning to its logical endpoint in serverless computing.
  • Cloud-Native Application Design
    • Running in the cloud and designing for the cloud are different things, and the difference is where the cloud's benefits live. This module pins down what cloud-native really means, gives architects their view of containers and orchestration, and keeps the elasticity promise made in the Scalable Availability course.
  • The Economics of the Cloud
    • In the cloud, spend and architecture are the same thing viewed from two angles. This module teaches architects to read the bill, bring cost into the design process, and navigate the performance-cost trade-off space deliberately.
  • Migrating to the Cloud
    • Most cloud journeys start with a forcing function, not a strategy document. This module covers choosing a migration strategy per workload, planning the incremental and reversible migration that nobody notices, and closes the course with a look at the edge and at certifications.
