Joint flexibility can be an asset, but when mobility becomes excessive, it may lead to pain, instability, fatigue, recurring injuries, and movement patterns that are difficult to control. By the end of this course, learners will understand how to recognize hypermobility, differentiate common hypermobility-related conditions, and apply safer strategies to support joint control, strength, and long-term function.
Presented by Dr. Linda Bluestein, MD, an expert in connective tissue disorders, this course explains the differences between generalized joint hypermobility, hypermobility spectrum disorders, Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, and related conditions. Learners explore the biomechanical, genetic, and systemic factors that can contribute to hypermobility and why symptoms often extend beyond “being flexible.”
Through practical modules, learners are introduced to assessment tools such as the Beighton Score, along with stabilization, strengthening, proprioception, and movement-based strategies for athletes, active individuals, and general clients.
