Secure Azure With Identity and Governance! Learn to manage access, protect identities, and enforce governance policies across Azure environments. This course teaches you how to secure Microsoft Azure environments using Microsoft Entra ID—formerly Azure Active Directory—and a suite of governance tools built for the cloud. You'll learn to create and manage users, groups, devices, and administrative units in Azure AD, then extend identity management to hybrid environments using Azure AD Connect. From there, you'll configure multifactor authentication, Conditional Access, and identity protection policies to detect and respond to risky sign-ins and user behaviour. The course also covers privileged access management using Microsoft Entra Privileged Identity Management (PIM), where you'll apply zero-trust principles to replace standing admin access with time-bound, approval-based role elevation. In the governance modules, you'll design management group and subscription hierarchies, assign Azure RBAC roles using least-privilege principles, enforce organizational standards with Azure Policy and initiatives, and protect deployments with resource locks and Azure Blueprints. Throughout the course, hands-on demos, assessments, and scenario-based role-play activities give you practice making real identity and governance decisions in realistic organizational settings. Who this is for: IT professionals, cloud administrators, and security practitioners who work with Azure and want to implement and manage secure identity and governance solutions.

Syllabus

  • Secure Azure solution with Azure Active Directory
    • This module introduces Azure Active Directory as the identity foundation for securing Azure environments. Learners explore directory features, roles, users, groups, devices, administrative units, Azure AD Domain Services, and passwordless authentication to build a controlled and manageable identity environment.
  • Hybrid Identity
    • This module explains how organizations connect on-premises identities to Azure through Azure AD Connect. Learners compare password hash synchronization, pass-through authentication, federation, seamless single sign-on, and password writeback to select and implement an appropriate hybrid authentication model.
  • Identity Protection
    • This module focuses on detecting and responding to identity risk in Azure AD. Learners configure risk detections, user and sign-in risk policies, multifactor authentication, Conditional Access, and access reviews to reduce account compromise and continuously validate access.
  • Azure AD Privileged Identity Management
    • This module applies zero-trust principles to privileged access using Azure AD Privileged Identity Management. Learners configure eligible assignments, activation settings, approval workflows, scope, notifications, and reviews to replace standing administrative access with controlled, time-bound elevation.
  • Enterprise Governance
    • This module brings together Azure hierarchy, role-based access control, policies, initiatives, resource locks, blueprints, and subscription management. Learners design governance controls that align organizational structure, access boundaries, compliance requirements, and resource protection.
