This practical, on-demand course introduces auditors and AI governance professionals to the AI system lifecycle controls in ISO/IEC 42001 Annex A.6.2.2 to A.6.2.8. Follow an AI system through requirements definition, design and development, verification and validation, deployment, operation and monitoring, technical documentation, and event logging. Through realistic audit scenarios, you will explore how these controls work together to support traceability, responsible AI, risk management, human oversight and accountability. You will learn what objective evidence to request, which questions to ask and how to recognize common weaknesses that may indicate ineffective implementation.
By the end of the course, you will be able to distinguish verification from validation; evaluate whether lifecycle activities are documented, reviewed, approved and controlled; assess deployment and monitoring arrangements; determine whether technical documentation and event logs are complete and appropriate; and reach proportionate, evidence-based conclusions about control implementation and effectiveness. This course is suitable for AI management system auditors, internal and external auditors, governance, risk and compliance professionals, AI system owners, product managers, and technical personnel supporting AI assurance.
