Syllabus
- Week 1: Evolving Leadership Theories
- The first week of this course jumps right into our traditional notions of leadership, defining the concept, the characteristics of a leader, the science of leadership, and the styles that exist today across master and servant models (Primal Leadership, Team Leadership, Situational Leadership, and Transformational Leadership).
- Week 2: Agile Leadership Principles
- The second week exposes the reasoning behind servant leadership as the optimal approach and how old philosophies and “modern psychology” reinforce the need for leaders to empower teams. Gamification and the power of play are emphasized to ensure optimal contribution and performance across roles on the scaled Agile teams.
- Week 3: Empowering the Mind
- The third week explores human decision making, its power and its faults in the form of biases, and how we can train ourselves through emotional-social intelligence and mindfulness to go faster by slowing down. Negotiation styles and techniques are also covered requiring self-reflection on how one handles conflict and manages competing, accommodating, avoiding, compromising, and collaborating challenges.
- Week 4: Empowering the Team
- The final week focuses on putting these lessons into practice with real-world approaches and tools for managing and facilitating decisions, interactions, and environments for optimal team performance.

This course has been a valuable experience that strengthened my knowledge, provided useful tools, and helped me understand how to apply concepts in real situations. The content was clear, practical, and results-oriented. I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate and I’m leaving with ideas I can use right away. Thank you for the learning and for inspiring us to keep asking “why”!

Hi! I loved the course, the grading it's just because the moment it redirects me to this page and asks to complete a control question, all the answers are incorrect... and won't let me complete the course!
I'd really appreciate if somebody could help me because I've finished the course and can't get the certificate...
Thanks in advance! -

Fue una buena experiencia de aprendizaje de conceptos nuevos.
Me encantaría poder tener visualización de los errores al hacer los exámenes para retomar el contenido y reforzar el conocimiento en forma más explicita e inmediata. -
As with all courses taken to date, the instructor's lectures are excellent: Very clear, easy to understand, insightful with real evidence. Course 4 was particularly good for me as it brought together many of the concepts and learnings of the earlier courses into text of the whole Agile methodology and process.

The content and information that is taught in this course is great. The reason I will not give it five stars is because the way that the tests are makes it extremely painful since it does not allow you to see which questions you got wrong, since there is no feedback on the grading, it only shows you a score. Also, the continual attempt to sell you to take the courses at the university is inappropriate. I am now at the end and the frustration level is way higher than most of the other 48 courses I have taken with Coursera.

Excellent overview of leadership styles, decision-making processes and building an Agile team. I also found the lesson on the Negotiation Field Guide to be very helpful. I think the reminders on decision bias and mindfulness are good for anyone to consider when in a management role.
