Materials Needed to Participate Fully:
Ingredients (yields one quart):
- 3 cups of heavy cream
- 3/4 cup sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ice cubes
- Your favorite toppings, such as sauces, dried fruits, marshmallows, candy, or fresh fruit
Essential Tools:
- Medium-sized saucepan for heating
- Whisk for combining ingredients
- Rubber spatula for scraping bowls
- Two bowls, one large and one smaller. Stainless steel bowls work best and should be pre-chilled in the freezer for about an hour before use
- Container sized appropriately for freezing your finished ice cream
