Overview

Microsoft Office OneNote provides an efficient solution for creating and collecting your notes within a digital notebook environment. This course will introduce you to using OneNote notebooks to store diverse content in a well-organized structure, access information from anywhere, and share materials easily with colleagues and collaborators. Additionally, learning how OneNote integrates with other applications in the Microsoft Office suite will significantly increase your overall productivity across all Microsoft Office tools.

Version Note:

This course is designed for individuals using OneNote 2016 or 2013 and is taught primarily using OneNote 2016 software. The differences between the 2016 and 2013 versions are minimal from an end-user perspective. Our instructors have extensive experience with both versions and can quickly explain the few minor interface changes. Users of either version will learn effectively in the 2016 software environment.

Course Objectives:

In this course, you will develop comprehensive digital note-taking skills by creating, modifying, and managing OneNote notebooks that integrate seamlessly with other Microsoft Office programs. You will:

  • Navigate and customize the OneNote interface and environment to suit your workflow
  • Add and format text, images, audio, hyperlinks, and drawing objects within a notebook
  • Embed Excel spreadsheets and attach other file types to your notebook for integrated access
  • Categorize, organize, and effectively search through notebook content
  • Check spelling, print notebooks, and apply password protection for security
  • Use Outlook and OneDrive to send and share notebook content with team members
  • Export notebook content and manage notebook history and backup procedures

Target Student:

This course is designed for professionals in various roles and industries who have basic Microsoft Office knowledge and want to incorporate digital note-taking and collaborative note management using Microsoft OneNote. The course covers creating and modifying OneNote notebooks, inserting images, embedding files, categorizing and organizing content, sharing materials via OneDrive, and exporting content to compatible file formats.

Prerequisites:

To ensure your success, you should have fundamental Windows skills, including starting and closing applications, navigating file structures, and managing files and folders. No previous experience with OneNote is required; however, basic familiarity with the Microsoft Office productivity suite would be beneficial.
