Autodesk Revit 2023 BIM Management: Template and Family Creation (Live Online)

via CourseHorse

Overview

Building Information Modeling (BIM) represents a comprehensive approach that spans the entire lifecycle of a building from initial concept through design, construction, and ongoing management. Autodesk Revit stands as a powerful, industry-leading BIM software solution designed for architects, MEP engineers, and structural professionals. It provides robust capabilities for coordinating, updating, and sharing critical design information with all team members throughout the design, construction, and building management phases. A fundamental component of successfully managing BIM processes involves establishing a strong organizational foundation by creating standardized templates and developing custom family elements. When this infrastructure is properly implemented, the process of initiating and executing any new project flows smoothly and efficiently.

The objective of the Autodesk Revit 2023 BIM Management: Template and Family Creation course is to enable experienced Revit users to significantly expand their technical knowledge in setting up comprehensive office standards. This includes developing templates with custom annotation styles, preset views, sheets, and schedules, as well as creating custom systems, in-place, and component families tailored to your specific design needs.

This course includes practical exercises and projects that are specific to each architectural discipline, ensuring relevance and applicability to your work.

Required Prerequisites:

You should have solid foundational knowledge of Autodesk Revit software as covered in the Autodesk Revit 2023 Fundamentals courses for your discipline (Architecture, Structure, or MEP). Knowledge of basic Revit techniques is assumed, including creating standard elements, copying and moving objects, creating and managing views, and other fundamental operations. Additional topics such as collaboration tools, conceptual design, and site and structural design are covered in separate, specialized courses.

Comprehensive Class Outline and Learning Objectives:

  • Create custom templates with professional annotation styles, title blocks, and custom element types
  • Create detailed schedules, including material takeoff schedules with mathematical formulas
  • Create custom wall types, roof types, floor types, and MEP system families
  • Set up component family files with parametric framework foundations
  • Create and model family geometry
  • Create multiple family types within your families
  • Modify visibility settings for components and incorporate additional family elements such as controls, MEP connectors, and nested components
  • Create specific and specialized families, including in-place families, profiles, annotations, and parameters
  • This course also includes discipline-specific practices for families, including doors, windows, railings, pipe fittings, light fixtures, gusset plates, and built-up columns
