Overview

Autodesk® Revit® is an advanced building information modeling (BIM) application that streamlines the architectural design process by aligning with how architects naturally think and work. The software accelerates design through the use of a unified 3D model where modifications in one view automatically update across all associated views and construction documents.

This course enables you to create complete 3D architectural project models encompassing walls, doors, windows, components, floors, ceilings, roofs, and stairs using essential tools that most architectural professionals utilize regularly. Training covers navigation of the user interface, application of basic drawing and editing tools, and effective use of viewing tools. The course concludes with instruction on creating professional construction documents ready for production.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Access to Revit 2023.0 version to ensure full compatibility with course materials. Subsequent software updates released by Autodesk may introduce changes not reflected in this curriculum. Course practices and files may not be compatible with earlier versions, such as 2022.
  • Familiarity with architectural terminology and concepts is beneficial for accelerated learning.

Learning Topics:

  • Understanding the purpose of BIM methodology and how Autodesk Revit implements these principles
  • Navigating the Revit workspace, interface, and menu structure
  • Selecting templates and linking CAD and Revit files as project foundations
  • Creating levels and grids as structural reference elements
  • Using the Project Browser to manage views and model organization
  • Understanding Revit families and working with pre-made components
  • Applying basic sketching and modification tools for efficient modeling
  • Building 3D building models with columns, walls, curtain walls, windows, and doors
  • Adding floors, ceilings, and roof structures to complete the building envelope
  • Modeling vertical circulation with stairs, railings, and accessibility ramps
  • Preparing sheets with text, dimensions, details, tags, and schedules for construction documentation
